Pie-ku

A friend from Montreal shares a Washington Post item. Apparently, they solicited haiku about pizza. Robert Pinsky judged the entries.

In honor of Montreal, the following haiku for another doughy staple:

O, pen, sesame,
Trace this most perfect circle:
Montreal bagel.

three a.m. visit
begins with rain, and a loss,
of course food, then bed.

friends around the round
table: clichéd, maybe, but
it makes me happy.

Mom and Dad popped all
the dandelion heads off.
Don't let's go to seed.

an old man drove his
riding mower up north to
visit his brother.

Dying neighbor's house:
Sitting out in his front yard
A lonely trash can

When my dog is sick
and I spill lots of perfume
my house smells funny.

sleeps sleeps sleeps eats sleeps sleeps sleeps
sleeps sleeps sleeps sleeps sleeps.
